Second, (the “ground school” phase) requires twenty to thirty hours of class or home study to prepare for an FAA written examination. You can attend American Flyers traditional class, offered once every month, or choose to study at home using one of our electronic DVD or Internet programs.

Third, (the “flight instruction” phase) involves approximately 40 hours in an aircraft, half of which must be with an instructor (“dual”), the remainder flying and practicing under his or her supervision (“solo”).
