“ ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION”
Fill in : Social security number, date of birth and citizenship
Most important in this section is the “Enrollment Period”. Choose realistic start and finish dates based on your conversation with the school.
“ENTER CREDIT INFORMATION ”
This section has 4 parts:
- Borrower Information
- Loan Information
- Income and Expense Information
- Disbursement Information
As you will see, the first and third parts are self-explanatory, however below you will see a guide to help you with parts two and four.
GUIDE TO QUESTIONS IN LOAN AND DISBURSEMENT SECTION
TOTAL LOAN AMOUNT: Amount of tuition and living expenses, if required.
TUITION AMOUNT: Just include tuition only, DO NOT include living expenses.
ADDITIONAL EXPENSES: This is where you fill in the living expense amount only.
REPAYMENT OPTIONS:
- INTEREST ONLY: you can make “Interest only” payments for the period of time you are in class. List number of months that you will make “Interest only” payments if you choose this option.
- DEFERRED REPAYMENT: you can defer repayment of your loan up to 24 months. (NOTE: this option requires that you make a $10/month interest payment starting immediately. Regarding the deferment; the clock starts from the date of your first disbursement, not graduation) If you choose this option, enter number of months.
ANTICIPATED GRADUATION DATE: fill in
SCHOOL DISBURSEMENT DATE: Must choose at least two dates, but can also choose more. DO NOT INCLUDE LIVING EXPENSE AMOUNT, only tuition amount. The amount you list for living expense will be sent by check from Sallie Mae directly to your home address once loan is approved.
After you finish the application and review the credit results, proceed to the next page to ensure that proper reference information is entered. If there is missing reference information your loan will be delayed.
The web application currently requests two references for a borrower and one reference for each cosigner.
